Blogtember Day 17: My Latest Obsessions..

Disclaimer: I have not been paid to promote any products, these are just things I love :)
Hi Honeys,
I hope you're having a fabulous week :) Well, since I don't have work today I've been spoiling myself by having a DVD marathon of Miss Marple episodes, as played by the fabulous Geraldine McEwan. I've always adored Ms McEwan since seeing her brilliant portrayal of Jean Brodie in the Scottish Television (STV) Production of The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie in the late 70s.  She was also beyond wonderful as the acerbic Lucia in the early 1980s Channel Four production of Mapp & Lucia

I always have to rest on Thursdays because I work a late shift on Fridays & Saturdays which tends to knock the stuffing out of me so this has been a fun way of spending the day.  Hugging our furbaby on the sofa and watching some wonderful whodunits :)  Today then we're onto day 17 of the Blogtember challenge organized by Bailey Jean of Brave Blog Love.
Blogtember Day 17 Whats your latest obsession?
Today Bailey Jean asks: "Just for fun, your latest obsession. What can you not get enough of these days?"  What fun! Off we go then honeys :)

Organizing Our Home

Organizing Our Home
First on my list of obsessions is the (it feels like) never ending quest to organize our home :) We really have been working on it for such a long time, although we really only got serious, making plans for each room and such, around 18 months or so ago.  That sounds like forever but not when you're faced with over thirty years worth of accumulated clutter :)  So, it'll take a while honeys but it's a joint project with Hubby and we're having a such a laugh while de-cluttering and making lots of trips to the charity shops.  Someday we'll have our home looking exactly as we want it to (we have plans for decorating too) but in the meantime we're having fun and making memories :)  You can see some of the projects we've been working on here honeys. x

Roses & LavenderBeautiful Roses & Lavender

Our teeny tiny front garden has so made me smile this Summer even if the weather hasn't exactly been Summer like :) I'm so glad I have photographs of the roses and lavender to look at all through the coming winter.  You can download a pretty rose printable here honeys, enjoy x

The Addams Family

My Obsessions - The Addams Family

Does anyone else remember the original Addams Family TV series? We recently bought the complete series boxset and I've been lost in those wonderful black & white,  dripping in nostalgia episodes :)  Such joy!  I have happy memories of watching these on TV as a child and in my teens, with very long dark hair I was often called Morticia as a pet name and I adored it :)

Medieval history

My Obsessions - Medieval History
I read history at University and I just adored the study of the past.  To this day I love a good documentary.  Recently I've been on a real medieval history buzz.  Not that it's anything new honeys I've always been fascinated by the Plantagenets and the Tudors.

I've recently re-read a wonderful book by Ian Mortimer, The Time Traveller's Guide to Medieval England.  I read it for the first time after having watched the BBC TV series of the same name.  It really is an excellent book and has a very interesting premise in that the author looks at the time  through the eyes of a modern day traveller to the middle ages.  What might that traveller have seen, heard & experienced in that very different time? This isn't a book about Kings and their courtiers, it's about how ordinary people of that time lived.  It's incredibly interesting and if you have the chance to read the book or if the series pops up on TV I would highly recommend them both.

Another recently read book I would absolutely recommend is A Brief History of Life In The Middle Ages by Martyn Whittock.  Again this marvellous book is written from the perspective of the common man not the high born.  It really is a thoroughly good read.

So, that's it honeys. These are my latest little obsessions.  I can't wait to read what everyone else's are :) Till next time dear ones, smile lots and hug even more xx
